Escola primária e secundária
Antes de chegar à educação superior, os estudantes americanos cursam a escola primária e secundária, totalizando 12 anos de estudos. Esses anos são chamados de primeira a décima segunda séries. Por volta dos seis anos de idade, as crianças americanas começam a escola primária, que é chamada comumente de "elementery school". Passam cinco ou seis anos lá e, em seguida, começam a escola secundária.

Before coming to higher education, American students are studying at primary and secondary school, totaling 12 years of studies. These years are called first to the twelfth grades.
