O Rei Leão foi lançado em 1994 e apenas depois de três anos do musical veio o prêmio Tony de melhor show do ano. O espetáculo percorreu vários teatros ao longo do tempo, mas ainda continua sendo exibido na Broadway. Existem dois tipos de performance da turnê internacional do show, assim como várias traduções e adaptações ao redor de todo o mundo. Foi sucesso de bilheteria em 2013, encanada em 15 países e traduzida em oito línguas diferentes. / The beauty and quality of the Disney film were not what you have done one of the best musical shows in the world.
